Uniform
Our uniform helps foster a sense of pride and belonging for GLM dancers. It also serves important practical needs.
Correct uniform must be worn to each class. At GLM we embrace uniforms as an opportunity to nurture the sense of pride and belonging we want all of our students experience at our Studio. All uniform requirements are outlined below according to style, along with information on where to buy your uniform.
Trials
Any comfortable clothing is perfectly fine for your trial lesson with us, including bare feet. If you are trialling a tap class, we do have a number of second hand tap shoes at the studio available to borrow for your lesson.
Tiny Tots & Mini Movers
Students may choose what they wear for these class, whether this is a leotard, tutu or any comfortable clothing. Ballet shoes (pink for girls, black for boys) are optional for Tiny Tots and required for Mini Movers.
Ballet
From Beginners Ballet onwards, students are to dress in a blue leotard, with pink ballet stockings (colour: "Salmon Pink") and a blue wrap ballet skirt. Pink canvas ballet shoes must also be worn, or as advised by the class teacher in higher grades. Boys are to wear black ballet shoes, black tights and a GLM t-shirt. Where to purchase is listed here. Outerwear: A black crossover, GLM jacket or GLM hoodie are the approved uniform items for cooler months.
Tap
Students are to wear a blue leotard and black shorts. Shimmer tights may also be worn and are compulsory for examinations and the Annual Showcase. Tan coloured tap shoes must also be worn. Jazz
Students are to wear a blue leotard and black shorts. Shimmer tights may also be worn and are compulsory for examinations and the Annual Showcase. Contemporary
Classes require students to dress in a black leotard or GLM T-shirt/singlet with black leggings or shorts. Students will also need canvas pirouette half sole shoes (preferred), however ‘foot thongs’ or ‘foot undies’ are also acceptable. Where to purchase is listed here.

Hip Hop
Classes require students to dress in comfortable clothing, with GLM T-shirts/singlet and black leggings, pants or shorts. Black dance boots are the required shoe for this class. Where to purchase is listed here.

Musical Theatre
Classes require students to dress in comfortable clothing, with GLM T-shirts/singlet and black leggings, pants or shorts. Appropriately fitting tan coloured jazz shoes are required for this class. Where to purchase is listed here.

Performance Troupe
Performance Troupe students are to wear a GLM T-shirt/singlet and black leggings, pants or shorts. Tan jazz shoes and pirouette half soles are the required shoes for this class in 2023 (pirouette half soles are the preferred shoe, however ‘foot thongs’ or ‘foot undies’ are also acceptable). Students must also have a GLM jacket to wear to competitions and events. Where to purchase is listed here.

Adult Classes
Students in our Adult classes dress in a GLM T-shirt/singlet and any comfortable black leggings, pants or shorts. Fitted shoes appropriate to the style of dance are also required:

Buy your plain black shorts, pants and tights anywhere (Kmart, Target, Bloch and more will all carry appropriate items).
Shoes, leotards, stockings and everything else: Bloch Hornsby keeps a detailed list of all GLM uniform requirements and their helpful staff are well-equipped to assist you with care for all GLM uniform purchases. All GLM dancers are entitled to a Bloch Privilege Card, giving them access to exlusive offers and discounts. Be sure to collect in store!
