Louisa is a Co-Director and Principal Teacher at GLM, teaching jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, musical theatre and hip hop styles to all ages and experience levels. She fell immediately in love with dance after attending her first ballet class at 5 years old and has never looked back. Teaching, likewise, is a major passion, and what Louisa loves most about her role at GLM is the inclusive atmosphere, family vibe and of course, her students.
As well as holding a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management, Louisa is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts (Dance & Performance) and Bachelor of Education (Primary). Louisa has been teaching dance since 2008 and also has considerable experience teaching in other areas including gymnastics, swimming and fitness instruction, as well as her invaluable experience in primary schools. Louisa continues to further her formal teaching technique through ongoing professional development offered through Ballet Australasia Ltd.
Louisa attended her first ever dance class in 2000, immediately fell in love with the art form and has been dancing ever since. Over the years Louisa learned a number of styles including ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop, and would go onto join the Eisteddfod Troupe at Eileen Phillips Dance Academy – the school that would evolve to become GLM as we know it today. Louisa also participated in and gained from various school dance programs throughout her schooling career, and of course went on to stay dance and performance at both Sydney and Macquarie universities.
Outside of her work at GLM, Louisa enjoyed spending time with her daughter Lily, husband Mitch and their four cats and rabbit!
Louisa first and foremost loves dance because it is for everyone. No matter who you are, your age, gender, experience or ability, dance is something everyone can do and therefore has the power to unite people from all walks of life through a love of movement.
