Hello!
Meet Michelle:
Michelle is a Co-Director and Principal Teacher at GLM, teaching jazz, tap, ballet and contemporary styles to all ages and experience levels. A highly experienced dancer herself, Michelle loves seeing dancers strive to reach their potential - watching their progression and passion is greatly rewarding!
Michelle started teaching dance in 2013 and has been doing so ever since. She has developed her repertoire over the years, gaining experience in various styles with amazing dancers from 2 years old to 70+! As well as a qualified dance teacher, Michelle works full time as a paediatric physiotherapist, often working to facilitate gross motor development in children. She also has experience as a swimming instructor and training and first aiding for soccer and rugby union.
Michelle’s dance experience started young, in 1998 with beginner ballet. She would go on to complete all her BAL (Ballet Australasia Limited) exams in Jazz and Tap, before also being selected for the Eileen Phillip’s Dance Academy Eisteddfod Troupe and returning to ballet. Michelle took part in dance ensembles throughout her schooling career and studied dance for her Higher School Certificate. Over the years she has been afforded many exciting opportunities to perform at Glenn Street Theatre, The Entertainment Centre and even the Opera House!
In her spare time, Michelle loves to read, spend time swimming at the beach, working out and spending time with her two lovable Labradors.
Michelle loves dance for its capacity for creative expression, its power to bring positivity to any mood, and the exhilaration of performance. Her favourite part of teaching at GLM is getting to know her students, seeing their individual personalities shine and watching them grow and develop as amazing dancers.
